History

The story of "Haute Couture Chairs" began in2006 in London while strolling through Portobello Road and the antique markets of the English capital city. The idea of giving a new life to beautiful 17th and 18th Century French and European furniture was born as this exquisite furniture went out of fashion and would have been thrown away in France, whereas it still pleases the English who love the most simple “vintage” furniture of the 19th and 20th Century. Younger generations have turned away from this classic high quality furniture that has survived down the ages, thus disregarding a whole part of our culture and our way of life, condemning art and craft trades such as cabinetmakers, upholsterers, glassmakers, antique dealers…
"Haute Couture Chairs" specialises in seating as these are the only pieces of furniture that are regularly rearranged.
That is why "Haute Couture Chairs" began to travel across Europe in search of seating of all kinds and from all sources (chairs, armchairs, sofas, stools ...) to give them a makeover and update them.
"Haute Couture Chairs" has an eclectic and demanding clientele in search of original and unique pieces, as well as luxury hotels, banks and shops.
Each piece is unique and transformed by the best French, Swiss or German craftsmen according to the designer’s creative ideas and drawings. Patchwork upholsteries, made from exclusive leathers such as snake, ostrich or crocodile, were inspired by Russian constructivism, others by the Ecole de Nancy also called Modern Style. The blend of a LOUIS XVI “Cabriolet” armchair with fabric from great 20th Century designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Verner PANTON or the EAMES is pleasantly surprising and of rare elegance.
“Haute Couture Chairs” works only to order and will be happy to advise on redesigning your interior, either by choosing items from our stock or ordering from samples on our website.
“Haute Couture Chairs” can also “modernise” your own or inherited furniture using our exceptional creative abilities.
